From the Juror:
Best in Show winner, Desert Images by Susan Fleming, is a lush mixed media drawing capturing the rich palette of the American southwest. Seeing this image, and Fleming’s other desert works, brings to mind a hike at the south rim of the Grand Canyon and the overwhelming beauty of cacti, mesas, and deep pastels. What a gift to relive that experience through my encounter with Fleming’s Desert Images.
Award of Distinction winners for their creativity and artistic merit include Eilene Carver for Texas Skies, which captures the drama of gathering clouds against an expanse of sunlight sky, and to Meaghan Troup for Found, which evokes the warmth and beauty of an autumn morning. Previously, Meaghan received a Best in Show Award in STCEA’s previous show, Amethyst Remembrance: A Purple Show, and an Award of Distinction in STCEA’s first show of the season, Making Waves: Waterscapes in Art.
Congratulations to all our award winners!
